DAY 1 - FRIDAY - DEPARTURE
A convenient evening flight takes you to Jordan.
DAY 2-SATURDAY-AMMAN
Arrive in Amman where our host will meet, assist and transfer you to your hotel. (D)
DAY 3-SUNDAY-AMMAN/JERASH/AMMAN
After breakfast take an orientation tour of Amman. Continue to Jerash, the "Pompei" of the Middle East. The most beautifully preserved Greco-Roman city in existence. Here you will have an opportunity to visit the Hadrians Triumphal Arch, Hippodrome and a mile long street of columns. (B,D)
DAY 4-MONDAY -PETRA EXCURSION
This morning we depart for Petra, the "rose red city". Carved from living rock over 2000 years ago it can be reached by horse or carriage. Carved into the colored mountains are the High Palace, Monastery and a Roman styled Palace Tomb. Return to Amman for overnight. (B,L)
DAY 5-TUESDAY-AMMAN/JERUSALEM
Early this morning we will cross the border to Israel. A tour of the Old City includes the Roman Cardo, the Western Wall and theViaDolorosa.(B.L)
DAY 6 -WEDNESDAY - JERUSALEM
This morning we continue our exploration of Jerusalem with visits to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Garden Tomb. We will visit the Israel Museum to see the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. Our final visit in Jerusalem will be to Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust. We
continue to Bethlehem to visit the Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity. (B,D)
DAY 7-THURSDAY-DEAD SEA
Depart Jerusalem via the Judean Desert to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Stop in Qumran and view the place where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to Ein Gedi, where David fled from King Saul. Continue to the mountain fortress of Massada. Ascend by cable carlo visit the excavations of the site where the Zealots made their last stand against Romans in the 1st century. Time and weather permitting, enjoy a swim in the Dead Sea. (B,L)
DAY 8 - FRIDAY-JERUSALEM/CAIRO
Early morning drive to Cairo, welcome to Egypt, enroute we stop at Taba for lunch. Late afternoon arrival at your hotel. (B/L)
DAY9 - SATURDAY-GIZA
After breakfast we will visit the Pyramids & Sphinx of Giza which have stood for the last 5000 years. Continue to ancient Memphis the first capital of united upper and lower Egypt. Our final visit is to Sakkara the site of the Step Pyramid of Zoser. (B,L)
DAY10-SUNDAY-CITY TOUR
This morning we will visit the masterpieces of ancient art in the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, including the incredible treasures of Tutankhamun. After lunch drive to the Islamic quarter to stroll the Great Citadel begun by Saladin and visit the Mohammed AN Mosque, also know as the "Alabaster Mosque". The day ends with a walking tour of the Khan El Khalili Bazaar (B,L)
DAY 11 -MONDAY-CAIRO
(Optional 5 Days/4 Nights Nile Cruise, Aswan/Luxor)
The day is at your leisure or you may join an optional 5 day/4 night Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan. Late evening flight to Amman for overnight. (B)
DAY 12 -TUESDAY- DEPARTURE
Our tour of the Holyland comes to an end as we transfer to the airport for our return flight to New York.
